It is particularly appropriate since California's modern development can be traced back to the discovery of gold in 1848 and fields of golden poppies can be seen each spring throughout the state.
This is a series of fictional portraits taken in the ‘Golden State’ in 2018. They are collaborations that represent individuals who are bringing their performative selves into reality. They are using the stage of illusion to perform in the everyday. In modern culture it is now possible for people to express themselves continuously and use themselves as a form of expression. The addictive power of social media and technology is moving the private life into the public domain.
